01 July - Majuro Fishing Tournament

Todd Newman is the Technical Advisor over in the Marshall Islands doing the same job that Scott is doing in Pohnpei. About six weeks ago Todd rang Scott and asked if he would come over and help him out with the Annual Fishing Tournament. Needless to say the ticket was purchased online that day. The first day resulted in nine marlin strikes/hookups but unfortunately none were landed. It was a great first day out though. Some of the other competitors had a better run off it with quite a few marlin and big yellowfin tuna landed.

What ended up being the biggest marlin of the tournament. 623lb monster Pacific Blue Marlin.

Miss Urok (bottom fish). They go all out in this tournament with it being one of the biggest events on the country's calender.

Now that's a great day on the water; marlin, yellowfin and the tournament winning barracuda.

The wharf area was lined with people watching the weigh-in. The kids loved it and continuous jumped in the water the cool off, laughing their heads off. A great atmosphere.

Nine marlin strikes and one wahoo. This ended up being the 3rd place wahoo in the tournament.

This yellowfin is only 10lbs lighter than the marlin, an awesome fish.

Day one over. After a 4:30am start it was straight home and pretty much straight to bed in preparation to do it all again the next day.
