06 July Pacific Partnership comes to Pohnpei

Pacific Partnership is a joint venture conducted by the US, Canada, Australia, Japan, New Zealand and France Defence Forces. This year the mission was based on the USS Cleveland and visited Tonga, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, East Timor and Pohnpei (FSM). The teams conduct medical check-ups, dental work, rebuilding infrastructure such as schools and government buildings and they even brought a team of vets. This year we were lucky enough to have the PP visit us in Pohnpei.

It really is a big deal and we were lucky enough to get an invite to the opening Cocktail Party on the Clevelands LCU. The Vice President of the FSM, all the ambassadors from the embassys, the commodore in charge of the mission, members of the FSM congress and three members of the RAN. A pretty high flying group - maybe not the last three guys.

The PP had a detachment from the USN band. They did a great job throughout the visit including the cocktail party.

Fresh good food. You bloody rippa!!!!!!!!!

Dressed to kill.

Our neighbours Dean and Heather.

The Vice President of the FSM gave a heartfelt speech thanking the PP group for what they intend to achieve in Pohnpei.

Every now and again we are privilaged enough to be part of something special. Not very often does one get to mingle with Vice Presidents, Commodores and international ambassadors. Pretty cool night.
