22 July Sembawang - Singapore

Well we flew out of a very polluted Manila and landed in beautiful Singapore. We caught up with Nic's Mum and Dad (Peter and Chris). They we will be staying with us for the entire time in Singapore and a couple of weeks in Thailand. Peter and Chris had travelled from Perth and we were still a little flat from the two days of travelling from Pohnpei so we decided to eat local. While in Singapore we are staying in one of the RANLO (RAN Logistics Office) sponsored houses. They are extremely cheap by comparison to hotels and very well set up. They have given us a great start to our holiday.

Our first meal in Singapore was down at 'The Wang'. This little strip has a few bars and quite a few 'local' places to eat. Scott and all the Navy boys frequent this place (mostly the bars) when the ships pull into Singapore. The drinks are a lot cheaper than in the city and the food is very good.

Everyone was a little weary but most of the food was enjoyed. It's a big difference to what's available on Pohnpei.

For example fresh garlic prawns.

And Singapores signature dish - Chilly Mudcrab. Hot on the way in and hot on the way out. Need I say more.

The Wang and the quality of the RANLO house has given us a great start to the holiday.
