After the Whitepass Railway we had a quick look around town and then we loaded up for our second excursion of the day. A minibus ride to the Musher's Camp. In the summer huskies are brought from all over Alaska to camps like this for 'summer training'. Once the snow has melted they set them up behind carts and have them pull wealthy tourists around a dirt track a few times. Why didn't I think of this......
A thirty minute ride from Skagway had us at the of the road. Not a bad view either.
Just to show you that I can appreciate things other than fish.....
We all loaded up in big 'off-roader' and headed up to the where the dogs were kept. On the way we stopped off for the 'family photo shot'.
A bit of overkill but that's how Americans do things.
Even though they had already run four times during the day the dogs were keen as mustard to go again. It was very loud.....
And we're off. A unique experience for sure.
Yep, yet another one.
They poo and run at the same time, lucky we stopped at a place without too much waste to enjoy.
After the ride the kids were very happy to be able to pat a dog that doesn't want to bite them.
Looking forward to getting a puppy on our return to Aus.
A bear hideout. The grizzley bears are often seen. They come out more to try and steal the dogs food more than eat the dogs.
After the ride back down to the base camp we played with the puppies for a while.
I have a feeling that this was Nic's favourite part of the day.
They just keep pumping them out.
