04-05 Feb Hong Kong - Out and about

After a few long and busy days we changed pace just a little and just explored the local area.

As luck would have it we were in Hong Kong for the marathon. About 57000 like-minded people ran 42 kilometres through the streets. This was the view from our hotel window. They obviously didn't eat as much as we did the night before.

We caught the train/short taxi to a place on the harbour that allows you to hire bikes. On the way we found this place and stopped in for a quick look. There is plenty to keep young kids entertained in Hong Kong.

I think I had given up trying to tell them not to climb on the exhibits by this stage.

...........................................

Well we found the bike hire place and went for a 11km ride along the edge of the harbour. It's a pretty good set up with hire available at one spot and returns allowed at the other end. Indi didn't really seem to be in the site-seeing mood and took the opportunity to take yet another nap.

Once we finished Jaxon found this bike and wanted to take us all for a ride. A nice idea buddy, give it a couple of years and you might have the power to match the ambition.

Next it was off to a nearby shopping centre for Nic to have a little retail therapy. On the top was Snoopy World which kept Scott and kids entertained.

Dinner at a Vietnamese resteraunt close to the hotel. A seafood coconut soup dish. Pretty bloody fancy and pretty bloody tastey to.

Scott had the biggest prawn you have ever seen. It even had a little fire underneath.

Next morning we went for a work on the streets near the hotel. Nic found an unset diamond with an asking price of $68000, and that wasn't the most expensive one. Not many times I say no when Nic wants something, this time though, unfortunately for her.......... What's that over there? Is that a monkey in a tree? Lets go have a look shall we? Come on? Now? Get away from that bloody window woman?

Baby Sitter = Check. Nice Italian Resteraunt = Check. Bottle of Margaret River Red = Check. Spare wives in case I get sick of this one = Check. Hong Kong is a pretty busy place and shared tables aren't unusual.

After dinner Nic and I went for a walk to the Temple Street Markets. Nic decided to try the Jaxon's 'Gangstar' pose. Amazing what a bottle of red and a couple of cocktails will do.

Found this shop for Jodie and Belinda.

And this one....

Dead birds anyone.

Open thy wallet, we have arrived at the Temple Street Markets.

A couple of slower but still very full days. One the plane tomorrow night to Guam.
