08 Jan - Wahoo Trip

A four out of five day on the almanac meant it was time to fish. I took out a friend for some fun and the hopes of catching a few wahoo. We targetted wahoo and well, we got a few. Lines out at about 0630, six wahoo on ice before 0730, I couldn't even finish my coffee. I ended up pulling the lines in about 1200 as I couldn't bear the thought of having to wind another fish in. Fifteen wahoo on ice with no longer than 30 minutes between fish. An absolute cracka fishing morning.

The esky was that heavy that we couldn't carry it up from the boat to our house. So we transferred them to the wheel barrow for the journey and then back on to ice under the house.

Not massive by any stretch, but tastey all the same and great fun on lightish gear.

Now that's a cooler full of fish.

We gave some away to the local families that live out the front of the compound, some to a friend that runs a resteraunt, the friend that I took out took a couple and we froze the rest. We have been giving it away to our island friends as they come over to visit us. No need to buy fish for us before we leave and we have 12 months to go.
