Eel Fishing

Some valueable Father and Son time was needed (read Nic needed a break from Jaxon while Indi had an afternoon sleep). So Scott, Jaxon and Dean (our neighbour) headed off to a local stream for a spot of fishing. It was a little bit of a hike in with Jaxon and all the gear being carried through the bush. It opened up at the stream and was quite a nice little spot.

A little bit of bread on a small hook produced an eel in no time at all. There was a lot of little fish but they were smart enough to not eat the bread on the hook.
This was as far as the first one got as the line snapped as we tried to lift it out of the water.

The second one on dry land. 'Not Happy Jan'.

Dean with the monster from the deep, our biggest catch of the day. We let them all swim off, much the disgust of the crowd of local kids that had gradually gathered to watch. I'm sure they had visions of eel stew or something similiar. All over in a couple of hours but it was a good bit of time-filling fun.
