Nett Point

We don't have any naturally formed beaches on the island, but there are a couple of small man made ones. We often head over to Nett Point which is only five minutes from our house. The kids love looking for shells for Daddy and just enjoy something other than the compound.
Sandwiches first and then time to relax in the shallows.
We joined the local kids on the rope swing. It was Jaxon and Indi's first go at something like thing. As you can imagine it was very amusing to say the least.
Indi seems to have more upper body strength than Jaxon and didn't have too many problems.
And she is probably at least as heavy as he is. Bombs away.
I didn't take Jaxon too long to get the hang of it.
There is no real 'elegant' way to let go.
As kids do, Indi found a way to push it to the next level.
A bit swing from up high can only end one way.
With an even bigger splash than the first one.
We managed to find a few more shells to add to the collection. A great way to spend an hour or two on a Saturday.

Nahlap Resort

Once again Nahlap Resort stretches the definition of 'resort' to an extremity, however it's somewhere to go and adds to the beauty of Pohnpei. It's a one week school holiday at the moment so Nic and a bunch of the other mums loaded all the kids into a boat and headed over to Nahlap for the day.
The water is shallow for quite a long way out and is protected from the swell as it is inside the barrier reef of Pohnpei.
Not her most glamorous photo. Indi loves putting on her mask and searching for fish.
Julie and Kylie enjoying the sunshine. Who says it rains all the time in Pohnpei.
A beautiful Mother / Daughter moment.
A happy chappette as long as there is food and a chance to swim.
Jamie enjoyed the chance to relax while the kids kept each other busy.
Most of the mums.
Not a bad 'day camp' site.
Yet another glorious day in paradise.

Compound Activities

As usual Nic gathers the masses to use the compound. Why not share what we have. The kids and adults alike enjoy the opportunity.
Peas in a pod.
Movie night on a Friday. BBQ and beers for the adults, and once the movie is up and running, there is a quietness that isn't often heard when these kids get together.
Best of friends; most of the time.
I have convinced the kids that it's okay to eat vegetables as long as they can't smell them. Whatever works......
Compound chickens become additional toys, whether they like it or not.....
Dini and the kids cool off in the compound carwash.
Who says there is nothing to do on Pohnpei? I'm not sure we want to leave at the end of the year. Another five or so years or least would be done easily.
Kids yoga. Funniest thing I've seen in a while.
Killing time on a Sunday afternoon.
Nic's at Bible Study, kids are asleep. What more could I want????
Friday night is Pizza Night.
Oh well, we'll clean up the mess later.....
As you can see, we're doing okay on our little island.

Out on water

Well we live on an island and we try to get out on the water as much as possible. Chris, Julie and little Kylie went for a burn on Allois's jet ski.
One day after work we took a boat out for a snorkel on a need by reef. Both Jaxon and Indi love the water and love looking for the fish.
Indi, only three years old, but she is definately not afraid of being on her own in the water.
Story time up the front of the boat.
A few days later we took our kayaks for a paddle through the mangroves behind Sokez Island. Beautiful bird life, heaps of little crabs on the mangrove roots, and not too much wind.
Jaxon and Nic's self portrait.
Indi's at the 'I have to do everything myself age'. Well paddle me home Indianna.....

Ant Atoll

Nic managed to get over to one of our favourite places, Ant Atoll, for a day last week. The kids were at school and I was at work, why not indeed. It's a truly beautiful place with great snorkelling and beautiful beaches.
The colourful corals were out in force by the look of it.
Nothing like a fresh coconut on the beach.
Nic and Brenda living the life of a King, or should I say a Queen.
The boat driver went bush and came back with this cracka of a coconut crab.
Just another day in paradise. Unfortunately it's all going to end too soon.

Nicola's Birthday

March 26 every year is Mummy's birthday. We could have bought a cake, but it's always good fun to build your own.

We put in all together and put in the oven. Mummy took it out and iced it - good work team!!!
Nic and I organised a baby sitting for the night and headed up to The Village. After a bottle of champers we headed down for a feed. I had pre-ordered a cake, and the lads even sang a very 'islandy' version of happy birthday.
I'm sure that there was a 'wish' for a me to catch a marlin in there somewhere.
The Village is one of those 'eco-friendly' places. It's a pretty cool place, but as you can see, once the sun comes up, you may as well get up, unless you can sleep through blinding light......
A view over looking the ocean. Not a bad way to wake up; even if it was early.
A very calm day ahead of us.
The rooms are all single cabins so it's very quite apart from the geckos and the parrots.
The restaurant for breakfast and then unfortunately I had to head in to work. Still it was great to have a night alone, I'm not sure we even thought about the kids more than once or twice in the 14 hours we were away, is that bad.......
